Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel Bar(AMS 5848)
AMS 5848 specification covers Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, extrusions, mechanical tubing, flash-welded rings, and stock.
Nitronic 60 is a high-silicon, high-manganese, nitrogen-strengthened austenitic stainless alloy. It is an all-purpose metal that was originally designed as a temperature alloy and therefore performs well at high temperatures around 1800ºF. Combines superior corrosion resistance with good mechanical strength. The strength of the alloy is twice that of 316 stainless steel.
AMS 5848 Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel Bar offers improved corrosion resistance compared to 304 stainless steel and resistance to crevice corrosion, and pitting resistance is superior to 316 stainless steel. In both ambient and elevated temperatures, the galling resistance of the alloy is outstanding and, therefore, is highly suitable for applications where seizing or galling is a consideration.

Annealed Condition
In the annealed state, Nitronic 60 offers excellent hardness, and similar materials would require heat treatment to boast such superior hardness levels. The material represents a highly cost-effective engineering material solution for wear resistance compared to alloys such as nickel and cobalt.
