Types of Rod And Bar

Nickel Alloy Bars

Nickel alloy bar (rod) is an alloy material with a high nickel content (typically ranging from 50% to 99.9%). Common materials include hatelloy, monel, inconel, and incoloy. Nickel alloy rods are often solution-treated and aged, and are primarily used in harsh environments such as high temperatures, high pressures, or severe corrosion.

cobalt alloy Bars

Cobalt alloy bar (rod) is an alloy material with a high cobalt content (typically ranging from 50% to 80%). Common materials include CoCrMo alloy, Stellite alloy, Haynes 188, Haynes 25, and 3J21. Cobalt alloy rods are particularly well-suited for use in aerospace and biomedical applications.

Titanium Alloy Bars

Titanium alloy rod is an alloy material with a high titanium content (typically ranging from 50% to 99.99%). It is known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, excellent corrosion resistance, and good biocompatibility. It is widely used in high-tech fields from aerospace to biomedical applications.

Rod and Bar Manufacturing Process

Material Selection: The first step is the selection of the appropriate raw materials.

Melting: This is crucial for ensuring material purity. Because titanium is extremely reactive at high temperatures, it must be melted under vacuum or inert gas. The most common method is vacuum consumable arc melting, which typically requires two or three remelting cycles to ensure uniform composition and remove impurities.

Forging: This is the key step in achieving ideal microstructure and properties. Through processes such as open forging, rapid forging, and precision forging, the ingot is broken into billets, which are then further forged into bars of the desired dimensions. By controlling the deformation amount and temperature, grain refinement and optimized properties can be achieved.

Annealing: The microstructure of the alloy is adjusted and optimized through different heat treatment systems (such as annealing, solution + aging) to obtain the required combination of strength, plasticity and toughness.

Finishing and inspection: The bars may be turned or polished to achieve precise dimensions and a smooth surface, and undergo rigorous inspections such as ultrasonic testing and mechanical property testing.
