PH13-8mo Stainless Steel Strip(UNS S13800, ASTM A693)
With a main component combination of 13% chromium, 8% nickel, and added molybdenum, it can be used as a material for medical devices (implantable) as well as a high-stress component for high-end marine equipment.
Under the ASTM A693 standard, the core value of PH13-8 Mo remains unchanged. The material still needs to maintain a balance between high strength and toughness, corrosion resistance, and consistent processing.
The price of stainless steel strip consists of a base price plus alloy surcharges (Ni, Mo, Al). Due to recent significant fluctuations in material base prices, please contact us online for a specific quote. Also, please note: quotations significantly below market price may indicate substandard Mo, Al content, or purity (P, S).
Procurement Specifications and Implementation Guidelines
Your inquiry and our contract must include the following elements:
1. Complete Standard Number: "ASTM A693-XX" (XX represents the latest version year, such as A693-22).
2. Grade and Condition: "Grade 630M (UNS S13800), Condition H1000".
Condition Code (Three options are available; this must be explicitly stated in the contract):
Condition A: Solution annealed. Soft, easy for subsequent cold working.
Condition H1000: Solution annealed, aged at approximately 510°C (950°F) for 4 hours. This is the most commonly used high-strength condition.
Condition H950, H1050, etc.: Solution annealed, aged at approximately 510°C (950°F) for 4 hours. This is the most commonly used high-strength condition.
3. Precise Specifications and Tolerances:
Thickness x Width x Length (roll or sheet).
Tolerances: As specified by standards or special agreements. Negative thickness tolerances are a hidden cost and require attention.

Processing and Inspection (Practical Key Points)
- Key Processing Points:
Condition A: Suitable for cold working, such as stamping and bending. Aging treatment is required after processing to achievethe final properties.
Condition H1000: Already in an ultra-high strength state, extremely difficult to perform any forming processes other than grinding and EDM. Purchasing this condition means your parts are essentially already shaped.
- Quality Inspection Process (Your Firewall):
Dimensions and Appearance: Measure the thickness of the PH13-8mo stainless steel strip and inspect for surface defects.
Document Verification: First, check the MTR (Material Test Report) to verify the chemical composition (especially whether Mo and Al meet standards) and measured mechanical properties.
Physical Inspection (Mandatory!):
PMI (Physical Spectroscopic Analysis): On-site sampling inspection using a portable spectrometer is mandatory for each batch arriving. Core objective: Verify Mo content ≥ 2.2%, Al content ≥ 1.0%, and ensure extremely low Mn and Si content (this is a key indicator distinguishing PH13-8 Mo from ordinary stainless steel).
Hardness Testing: A quick and effective initial screening. The hardness in the H1000 condition must fall within the HRC 40-46 range.
