Custom 450 Bar

Custom 450 Bar

Custom 450 is a precipitation-hardening stainless steel that achieves high strength through age hardening. It is well-suited for applications requiring a balance of mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and corrosion resistance. Its properties can be tailored via appropriate solution treatment and aging processes, making it an excellent material choice for components such as shafts, structural connectors, and highly loaded mechanical parts.

Martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel

Custom 450 (UNS S45000) is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel characterized by high strength, good toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance. The material is strengthened through the addition of alloying elements-such as copper-combined with solution treatment and aging. This process enables the achievement of high mechanical strength while maintaining excellent dimensional stability and overall performance. Compared to conventional martensitic stainless steels, Custom 450 offers a superior balance of corrosion resistance, strength, and machinability, making it well-suited for mechanical components that demand high structural strength, durability, and environmental adaptability.

Custom 450 stainless steel bars are typically available in diameters ranging from 6 mm to 300 mm; specific dimensions are subject to current supply capacity and order confirmation. The material can be supplied in either a solution-treated or aged condition, depending on processing requirements. Surface finishes-such as black (hot-rolled/forged), turned, or ground-can be provided according to specific requirements and intended applications.

mechanical property

Condition State A(Solution annealing) H900 status(Aging at 480°C)
Tensile Strength ≥ 860 MPa ≥ 1380 MPa
Yield Strength (0.2%) ≥ 690 MPa ≥ 1240 MPa

Typical Hardness HRC 20-28 HRC 40-46

The mechanical properties of Custom 450 are closely related to its heat-treatment condition. Through solution treatment and aging, the material's strength, hardness, and toughness can be adjusted. Since properties vary significantly depending on the specific condition, the required final condition should be clearly specified at the time of procurement.

Surface Treatment

Grind
Before delivery, Custom 450 bars must have surface defects removed by grinding; the grinding depth and handling of any residual defects must comply with the requirements for the respective surface grade. For Grade A surfaces, grinding is permitted to remove potentially hazardous defects-such as fins, tears, or jagged edges-provided that the resulting weight loss does not exceed the allowable underweight tolerance, and the maximum grinding depth at any single point does not exceed 10% of the section thickness. Grade C surfaces are subject to stricter requirements: remove all visible surface defects by grinding, without exceeding the allowable underweight tolerance, and limit the maximum grinding depth at any point to no more than 10% of the section thickness.
