ASTM B168 Inconel 693 Nickel Alloy Description

Inconel 693 is an ideal material for extremely high-temperature corrosive environments and is generally used in the petrochemical industry for synthetic ammonia, methanol and hydrogen production equipment.

Two key considerations when purchasing ASTM B168 Inconel 693 Nickel Alloy:

1. Clarify your requirements:

Determine whether your application truly requires Alloy 693's superior resistance to high-temperature oxidation and metal dusting. If the operating environment involves a reducing acid environment, consider other nickel alloys.

2. Verify specific performance standards and delivery status:

When purchasing, be sure to specify that the material meets production performance standards and specify the desired heat treatment (usually solution annealed).

3. Research suppliers:

Alloy 693 has high production process requirements (specifically, vacuum melting capability), so consider this when selecting.

   Hot Working:

Temperature control is critical: The recommended hot working temperature for Inconel 693 alloy is typically between 1150°C -1180°C. The final forging temperature must be kept above 900°C to avoid cracking.

   Welding:

We generally recommend TIG or MIG welding for Inconel 693. We also recommend using a dedicated welding wire with a matching composition (such as Inconel 53MD). Solution treatment is recommended after welding or machining to dissolve harmful phases.

Lork Group offers customized ASTM B168 Inconel 693 Nickel Alloy. The approximate prices offered by Lork Group are:
