Products Description

MP35N is a non-magnetic, multiphase-strengthened cobalt-nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy. It achieves a unique combination of ultra-high strength (with tensile strength reaching over 2000 MPa) and excellent corrosion resistance through a strengthening mechanism that integrates cold-work deformation and aging treatment.

MP35N plate, sheet, and foil products are manufactured in accordance with the ASTM F688 standard. ASTM F688 is the product standard for wrought cobalt-35 nickel-20 chromium-10 molybdenum alloy (UNS R30035) intended for the manufacture of surgical implants; it specifies requirements regarding chemical composition, mechanical properties, metallography, material condition, surface and edge characteristics, and inspection.

FAQ

Does ASTM F688 specify identical mechanical properties for all products?

+

-

No. The standard specifies performance requirements based on product form and material condition. Tabulated requirements exist for annealed and 48% cold-worked sheet, while other product forms and processing conditions require confirmation based on the standard and agreements between the supplier and purchaser.

Does ASTM F688 specify fixed dimensions for sheet and foil?

+

-

The standard specifies requirements regarding product form, dimensions, and tolerances; however, specific thickness, width, length, or drawing numbers must still be defined during procurement. Actual supply dimensions from LorkGroup are subject to the quotation and order confirmation.

Does MP35N sheet achieve maximum strength straight from the factory?

+

-

Not immediately. The strength of MP35N in the annealed condition is approximately 790–930 MPa. To achieve ultra-high strength (over 1900 MPa), the material must undergo cold rolling followed by aging treatment. Material in the annealed condition does not respond to aging treatment.

What is the "LTi" version of MP35N?

+

-

LTi (Low Titanium) is a low-titanium variant in which the titanium content is controlled below 0.015% (whereas the standard version allows up to 1.0%). The LTi version eliminates TiN inclusions and significantly improves fatigue life, making it particularly suitable for high-fatigue applications such as medical implants and precision springs.

What information is required when placing an order?

+

-

It is recommended to provide the standard version, product form, dimensions, quantity, material condition, mechanical property requirements, surface and edge requirements, special testing requirements, and necessary documentation. This information aligns with the ordering information clauses of ASTM F688.
