MP35N Medical Needle Tubing

MP35N Medical Needle Tubing

MP35N capillary tubing is a precision product made from a nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy, supplied as straight tubing with an outer diameter of ≤ 6.3 mm and a wall thickness of ≤ 0.76 mm. It is used to manufacture tubing for cardiac pacemaker leads and implantable devices (such as stents).

MP35N Medical Needle Tubing

MP35N capillary tubing is a precision product made from a nickel-cobalt-chromium-molybdenum alloy, characterized by ultra-high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and outstanding biocompatibility. It is frequently used in applications demanding extreme reliability and chemical inertness, such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) systems and medical devices.

Due to its combination of high strength and biocompatibility, MP35N capillary tubing is primarily used in two key sectors:

Analytical Instrumentation (e.g., HPLC): In bio-LC systems from brands like Agilent, MP35N capillaries serve as fluid path connectors; they withstand ultra-high pressures while maintaining bio-inertness to prevent adverse reactions between the sample and the metal. Common internal diameter specifications include 0.075 mm, 0.12 mm, and 0.17 mm.

Medical Devices: It is used to manufacture structural components for pacemaker leads, cardiovascular catheters, and neuro-interventional microcatheters, as well as tubing for implantable devices (such as stents). It allows for extremely thin wall thicknesses (e.g., 50 microns) and remains free from magnetic interference in MRI environments.

Specification Reference

When sourcing, consider the following parameters:

Size Range: Industrial-grade MP35N capillary tubing typically ranges from 0.1 mm to 5 mm in outer diameter (OD) and 0.05 mm to 4.5 mm in inner diameter (ID). Medical-grade products require extremely tight tolerances for both OD and ID, reaching levels as precise as ±0.005 mm.

For small-diameter medical cobalt alloy tubing, the key standard is ASTM F2527.
This standard is specifically established for small-diameter medical tubing.
Scope: Straight tubing with an OD ≤ 6.3 mm and a wall thickness ≤ 0.76 mm.

Surface and Packaging: Medical-grade tubing typically requires a "medical-clean" or polished surface finish and may be supplied with sterile packaging or precision anti-static protective packaging.

Key Processing Points

Passivation of Both Ends

There is a well-established process for the passivation of MP35N. In accordance with the ASTM A967 standard, either nitric acid or citric acid passivation may be used; however, ultrasonic alkaline cleaning for 15–30 minutes is required prior to passivation.

Protein-Resistant Inner and Outer Walls

Bare MP35N does not inherently possess protein-resistant properties; the application of an inert coating is required. A currently validated solution is the Dursan coating (an alkyl-functionalized carboxyl-silane coating applied via chemical vapor deposition), which retains its protein-resistant performance even after exposure to human plasma and ultrasonic treatment.

Acid and Alkali Resistance

MP35N possesses excellent inherent corrosion resistance. It exhibits outstanding resistance to hydrogen sulfide, brine, and chloride solutions, as well as good resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. It also demonstrates a certain level of resistance to mineral acids (nitric, hydrochloric, and sulfuric acids).

Deep Processing Services and Finished Product Delivery

MP35N Medical Needle Tubing

Medical needle tubing falls under the category of precision, small-diameter tubing. Suppliers typically need to provide the following:

Cutting: Precision cutting to fixed lengths or short segments

Heat Treatment: Processing based on customer-specified cold work levels and aging protocols

Electropolishing: Removing surface "chevron" patterns and controlling surface roughness

Straightening and Clean Packaging: Ensuring precision for subsequent assembly

If you have strict requirements regarding "protein non-adsorption," please note that the CVD process for Dursan coating imposes limitations on tubing length and coil diameter; the coordination of these processing steps must be confirmed in advance during the quotation and technical agreement stages.
