Precisely Meeting High-End Demands: 100 kg of 17-4PH Ultra-Thin Precision Strip Delivered to a Malaysian Client
Against the backdrop of increasingly stringent requirements for specialized materials within the global high-end manufacturing sector, the Lork Group has once again successfully fulfilled an export order for 17-4PH stainless steel strip destined for the Malaysian market-a feat achieved through its exceptional product quality and flexible service capabilities. This shipment, weighing 100 kilograms and featuring specifications of 0.25 mm in thickness and 110 mm in width, is designated for use in the manufacturing of printer protective housings. The client specifically required a material capable of withstanding high temperatures ranging from 300°C to 400°C, as well as the complex, corrosive internal environment of a printer, while also being amenable to various forming processes such as bending, stamping, or laser cutting.
Customer Requirement Breakdown: High-Performance Material Selection for Harsh Environments

During operation-particularly in the case of high-speed commercial printers or industrial-grade printing equipment-internal protective shields face two persistent challenges: extreme heat accumulation (reaching temperatures of 300–400°C in certain zones) and continuous degradation caused by corrosive media such as inks, solvents, and dust. Traditional materials-such as standard stainless steel or plastics-struggle to simultaneously satisfy the requirements for high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, dimensional stability, and thin-profile formability.
The 100-kilogram order recently placed by a client in Malaysia was specifically driven by these critical pain points:

Thickness: 0.25 mm
The material must exhibit exceptional thin-wall strength and flatness to facilitate efficient stamping or laser cutting into complex protective shield geometries.

Width: 110 Mm
The dimensions are optimized for precision narrow-strip slitting, thereby minimizing material waste during the client's secondary processing operations.

Processing Compatibility
The material must be compatible with multiple fabrication methods-including bending, stamping, and laser cutting-imposing rigorous demands on its ductility, hardness uniformity, and the stability of its heat-affected zones during cutting.

Environmental Resilience
Under prolonged operating conditions ranging from 300°C to 400°C, the material must remain free from softening, oxidation, or creep deformation, while simultaneously withstanding the chemical corrosion inherent to the printer's internal environment.
17-4PH Precipitation-Hardening Stainless Steel Strip: Engineered for Demanding Conditions
The 17-4PH stainless steel (UNS S17400 / AISI 630) recommended by the Lork Group is a martensitic precipitation-hardening stainless steel that achieves exceptionally high strength and excellent corrosion resistance through aging heat treatment, making it a perfect match for the application scenario of this printer protective cover.

Lork Group's Product Assurance: Precision Manufacturing and Rigorous Quality Control
For a Malaysian client's order of 100 kg of narrow strip (0.25 mm × 110 mm), Lork Group implemented the following specialized control measures:
- Precision Rolling Process: Utilizing a 20-high Sendzimir mill, thickness tolerance is controlled within ±0.005 mm and width tolerance within ±0.05 mm, ensuring that the edges of the 110 mm narrow strip remain straight and free of burrs.
- Surface Quality: Available with 2B or BA surface finishes, featuring a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.4 μm. This prevents surface defects from negatively impacting laser cutting reflectivity or causing premature wear on stamping dies.
- Heat Treatment Condition: Supplied in a solution-annealed state to facilitate subsequent bending and stamping operations, in accordance with customer forming requirements. Once part forming is complete, customers may perform a 480°C aging treatment to achieve maximum hardness (≥ 40 HRC), thereby further enhancing the protective shield's resistance to wear and scratching.
- Traceability: Each coil of strip material is marked with a specific furnace number and batch number. Comprehensive documentation-including chemical composition reports, mechanical property reports, and dimensional inspection records-is provided to ensure full compliance with the traceability requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and the aerospace-grade standard, AS9100D.
