ASTM B160 Nickel 200 Alloy

ASTM B160 Nickel 200 Alloy

Nickel 200 is a commercially pure nickel, and ASTM B160 is the bar standard for Nickel 200 Alloy. ASTM B160 Nickel 200 Alloy is known for its excellent corrosion resistance (especially in reducing media and alkalis), good mechanical properties, and outstanding electrical and magnetic characteristics.

ASTM B160 Nickel 200 Alloy

Nickel 200 bar is commonly used in chemical processing environments and is used to manufacture equipment components such as reactors, evaporators, pipes, valves, and pumps that handle reducing chemicals, caustic soda (such as sodium hydroxide), hydrofluoric acid, and food and synthetic fibers. Lork Group generally supplies Nickel 200 bar in the annealed state.

Procurement Guidelines

Based on procurement experience, the Lork Group recommends considering the following points when procuring nickel 200 alloy bars conforming to ASTM B160:

1. Determine the operating temperature:

This is crucial for material selection. Nickel 200 exhibits a significant decrease in strength and ductility when used for extended periods at temperatures above 315°C (600°F). If your application operates at temperatures exceeding 315°C for extended periods, consider using its lower carbon version, nickel 201 (UNS N02201), to avoid embrittlement due to graphitization.

2. Confirm material standards and condition:

When procuring, clearly specify that the material must conform to the relevant standards (e.g., ASTM B160) and specify the supply condition of the bars (e.g., annealed, quenched, etc.) based on subsequent processing requirements.

Cold Rolling/Cold Working:

Hot-rolled steel billets undergo multiple cold rolling and annealing cycles to achieve the final product dimensions. Thinning between annealing cycles can reach 70% to 85%.

Annealing:

Annealing is divided into intermediate annealing (to eliminate work hardening) and final annealing (to control the final product properties). The full annealing temperature for nickel and nickel alloys is typically between 570°C and 850°C. To prevent oxidation and difficult-to-remove scale,

Lork Group offers custom-made ASTM B160 Nickel 200 alloy. Lork Group's reference prices are as follows:

1. Spot materials: $25-35/kg (minimum order quantity 30-100 kg), $20-30/kg (100-300 kg)

2. Machining: Cutting, milling, etc. (price depends on material waste and machining method)
