Inconel 625 Strip (ASTM B443,DIN 2.4856) - Lork
Inconel 625 (UNS N06625, DIN 2.4856) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum-based solid solution strengthened alloy. The biggest difference between this material and other nickel-based alloys is that it is not strengthened by heat treatment. The chemical composition of niobium and molybdenum is directly dissolved in the matrix, resulting in high strength even from the annealed state. No reheat treatment is needed after welding, and the performance of the weld zone is almost identical to that of the base metal. This is something that precipitation-hardening alloys like alloy 718 and alloy X-750 cannot achieve.
Its typical applications include: aircraft engine exhaust pipes and casings, chemical reactors and heat exchangers, seawater cooling systems, flue gas desulfurization equipment, and nuclear reactor components. Simply put, 625 is the first choice for any application requiring high strength, corrosion resistance, and good weldability.
However, it's important to note that 625 is a solid solution strengthened alloy and its strength cannot be increased through heat treatment. Further hardening can only be achieved through cold working. ASTM B443 is divided into Grade 1 and Grade 2. Grade 1 is used for operating conditions with a temperature ≤593℃; Grade 2 is used for operating conditions with higher temperatures and requiring creep resistance.
Price reference
The price of Inconel 625 is higher than that of 600 and 601, primarily due to the cost factors of niobium and molybdenum. According to our Lork Group's market procurement data for 2025-2026:
| Product type | price range (USD/kg) | minimum order quantity |
| Sheet/Strip (batch) | $25-40 | 100kg /MOQ |
| Strip (small batch) | $15-25 | 5kg/MOQ |
| Precision strip (thin gauge) | $30-50+ | custom made |

Lork Group's Tips for Avoiding Pitfalls
Based on our past experience purchasing Inconel 625 nickel alloy strip, failed collaborations often stemmed from incorrect material composition, inadequate performance, and unclear customer testing requirements. We've summarized the following three suggestions for you:
- Confirm Grade: For high-temperature applications (>593℃), ensure it's Grade 2. Grade 1 lacks sufficient creep resistance at high temperatures.
- PMI On-Site Verification: Upon receipt, we will conduct quality testing on the 625 nickel alloy strip using a spectrometer and issue a report. We also recommend using a handheld spectrometer (PMI) for random sampling to confirm the composition.
- Note on Long-Term Use at 550-700℃: During long-term service in this temperature range, the ductility of 625 may slightly decrease. If your operating environment demands high toughness, consider comparing different materials beforehand.
Technical Communication Regarding Price Inquiry
1. Product Form and Condition
When purchasing Inconel 625 strip, we need to clarify the following in advance:
- Dimensions: Thickness (commonly 0.01-3mm), Width (commonly 5-600mm)
- Condition: Annealed (soft), or cold-rolled (1/4 hard, 1/2 hard, fully hard)?
- Grade: Grade 1 or Grade 2?
- Surface: Bright annealed, cold-rolled, or polished?
2. Condition Selection Recommendations:
- For complex forming processes such as stamping and bending → Annealed
- For direct use in springs, seals, etc. → Cold-rolled (higher strength)
- For high-temperature applications (>593℃) → Grade 2 annealed or solution-treated
