Nimonic 91 Nickel Alloy Sheet (AMS 5910)
Our specially supplied Nimonic 91 sheet metal has another name in the aero-engine and heavy-duty gas turbine industry-'Disc Cavity Guardian'. When you purchase it, you're most likely not to make a 'heat-resistant sheet,' but rather to precision stamp or machine 'turbine disk stage sealing rings' or 'high-temperature load-bearing rings.' Your primary concern isn't how high the temperature it can withstand instantly, but whether it can stably serve for tens of thousands of hours without excessive creep, fatigue cracking, or oxidation spalling under conditions of around 750°C and subjected to enormous thermal gradient stress and vibration. What we provide is this specialized material to 'insure' this core component."
We figuratively call him an engineer who "saved the lifespan of critical components in the fiery and stress hell of 700-750°C".
Choosing Nimonic 91 sheet metal means introducing a battle-tested, predictable guardian to the 'heart' of your powertrain-the turbine disk cavity. It's specifically designed for critical components like turbine stage sealing rings, load-bearing rings, and fasteners in aero-engines and gas turbines. We not only provide compliant materials but also aspire to be your trusted material and process partner in tackling the manufacturing challenges of these top-tier components.
Chemical Composition
"Every sheet we supply strictly adheres to Nimonic 91 AMS 5910 or the corresponding European aerospace material specifications. As you know, for critical components like sealing rings, which are classified as 'Class A,' material specifications are not just a reference; they are the law."

The true essence lies in the extremely low carbon content and precisely controlled trace elements such as boron and zirconium. These act like 'grain boundary glue,' greatly strengthening the grain boundaries and enhancing long-term stability. We guarantee that the composition falls within the very center of the specifications.
Mechanical Properties
"Discussing room temperature performance is meaningless. Its value lies in the high-temperature performance data sheet."

Key Acceptance Criteria: Besides standard tensile testing, reports on the 'endurance/creep test' and 'low-cycle fatigue test' are the true 'coming-of-age ceremony' for verifying the quality of a batch of materials. We can provide a basic Nimonic 91 material data package and assist you with verification testing.
Inquiry and Production
Purchasing Alloy 91 alloy sheet is just the beginning of a complex manufacturing process. Based on feedback from past clients, we've helped you avoid some of the pitfalls in the remaining stages.
1. Suggested Procurement Specifications:
"I strongly recommend that your procurement documents be written as follows: 'Nimonic 91, compliant with AMS 5910, solution-treated sheet condition, thickness XX mm (+0/-0.1mm), width YY mm, surface centerless grinding or precision polishing, 100% ultrasonic testing (UT), acceptance standard according to AMS 2631 Class A.' Negative thickness tolerance and high-level UT are crucial and must be clearly stated."
2. Key Points in Machining and Heat Treatment (Our Core Value Area):
"From our sheet metal to your qualified rings, there are three critical hurdles, which we have repeatedly verified for our clients:
Shortcutting and Forming: Wire EDM is the preferred method to avoid the heat-affected zone. Hot forming (such as superplastic forming) or isothermal forging is the best process for manufacturing complex-shaped rings, but it requires specialized equipment and molds. Cold forming is extremely difficult and prone to cracking.
The Precise Dance of 'Solution + Aging': Nimonic Grade 91 requires a two-step heat treatment: first, solution treatment at ~1100°C to obtain a supersaturated solid solution; then, prolonged aging at approximately 700-800°C (>16 hours) to allow the strengthening phase to precipitate uniformly. A temperature deviation of 10°C or insufficient time may result in substandard performance. A controlled atmosphere furnace with full recording capability must be used.
3. Welding is a 'no-go' (unless absolutely necessary): avoid welding whenever possible. If welding is necessary, compatible welding materials must be used, and post-weld heat treatment, non-destructive testing, and performance evaluation are required.
