Inconel 601 is a nickel-chromium-iron solid-solution strengthened alloy; the addition of 1.0–1.7% aluminum significantly enhances the material's high-temperature oxidation resistance.

 

Alloy 601 exhibits excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and corrosion in sulfur-bearing atmospheres at high temperatures, while maintaining good mechanical properties at both room and elevated temperatures; it is also easy to form, machine, and weld.

 

Inconel 601 tubing specifications can be customized; the outer diameter generally ranges from 12 mm to 100 mm, wall thicknesses cover Sch 40 to Sch 80 ratings, and lengths can be supplied according to requirements.

  • Excellent high-temperature oxidation resistance (up to 1250°C): The synergistic effect of aluminum and chromium forms a dense oxide layer that resists spalling caused by thermal cycling, making it suitable for demanding environments such as high-temperature furnace tubes and heat treatment equipment.

 

  • Superior resistance to carburization and nitriding: Maintains microstructural stability in carburizing atmospheres, making it an ideal choice for chemical cracking tubes, radiant tubes, and carburizing furnace components.

 

  • Resistance to corrosion in sulfur-bearing atmospheres: High chromium and aluminum content ensures good oxidation resistance in high-temperature, sulfur-containing environments.

 

  • High-temperature strength and creep resistance: Retains good mechanical strength and resistance to creep deformation at temperatures above 500°C. Even after prolonged exposure at 1120°C, it retains approximately 80% of its room-temperature yield strength.

 

  • Good fabricability and weldability: Can be joined using standard welding processes (such as TIG and MIG) without the need for post-weld heat treatment, making it suitable for on-site installation.
